Frugal Each Day Keeps the Job Away 10/20

Today I was frugal in small but important ways.

Working towards less by listing 3 more things on our local facebook trading post.  I listed a shirt that none of my teenagers want anymore, that one was easy peasy to let go of.  I also managed to list a few things from when my "babies", now 4 and 5, actually were babies!  That was MUCH more difficult.

This blanket is a Pottery Barn crib blanket, I was so proud of the deal I got on it!  And the name is "Sophia Butterfly" so it was special because my little gal is Sophea.  Alas, this blanket holds no sentimental value for Sophea herself who has her own special blanket that she sleeps with even still.  It had to go and I'll be happy that some other mommy is going to be pleased with getting a bargain like I was

Don't laugh at me!  Yes, the diaper pins were difficult to let go of!  Cloth diapering is near and dear to my heart.  I even made extra money for our family by making cloth diapers under the name Linah Sora....  still something I think regularly of getting back in to if I can ever get my sewing room set up properly for it.  But these little pins have to go as we will be adding no new additions to the Krietlow bunch!

Working towards the goal of less is more has been a goal of mine now for about a month and the goal is to list at least 3 things per day on the trading post.  This will bring in some money for the things my family needs and clear out some space and clutter for enjoying our life!

Lunch today was also a thrifty success.  "Please, would you go make the lunch?"  It may not be grammatically correct, but is certainly a sweet way to be reminded that there are hungry tummies to be attended to.  In my attempt to maintain my Stay Home status I try to maximize everything we purchase, especially with our groceries!  2 chicken legs left from last night's orange glazed crock pot chicken and 1 remaining brownie were divvied up between 2 plates, their bitten into but forgotten apples and 6 leftover grapes from breakfast (all purchased at under $1 per lb. thanks to loss leaders at the grocery store) were turned into a nice serving of fruit each, last bit of honey vanilla Greek Yogurt sprinkled with home made granola courtesy of a blog that I love: A Beautiful Mess, topped of with milk I got for free by using Register Rewards that I earned at WalGreen's.  Not to mention served on thrifty dishes and table cloth from estate sales, garage sales, and hand me downs!

Dinner tonight will be frugal as well!  The company that my husband works for had an open house recently and when it was finished the employees that worked the event got to divvy up the food that hadn't been opened to serve at the open house.  We got several packages of bratwurst, hot dogs, and hot dog buns that I added to our deep freeze stockpile!  For supper tonight we are having some of those brats and buns along with some grapes and steamed veggies from my coupon/ad match trip yesterday.

After I picked the kiddos up from school we stopped at the RedBox on the way home and picked up Hotel Transylvania for free from the deal I posted earlier today.  That is going to be tonight's family entertainment.  I did spend today and the goal was not to....  but I feel it was still frugal.  I bought some mocha creamer because I know if I run out it will mean a last minute stop at the Coffee Stand.

How were you thrifty today?
