Make a Memory Box

I'm hideously horrible about remembering to take pictures when I should,  baby books and I just don't play well, and my memory is going down the tubes.  Scrapbooking?  NOT on your life!  I found this idea on Pinterest a couple of years ago and no longer have the link to where it came from but I wanted to share with you because it's been such a neat way for me to remember and share with the children what we were doing in previous years!

Isn't this lovely?  Yup, sadly it isn't mine though.  We don't really get containers that would work like this and being of sound frugal mind I will not purchase something if I have something that works around here.  The main idea here is to take some sort of box that recipe cards will fit into.  I have an old recipe box from my grandmother that I don't use for recipes since I store my recipes online or in my binder.

The month and day are written on the tops of the card.  Then each day you write the year on a line of that date's card along with something that you want to remember from that day.  Whether it was a special event, something one of the kids said, or any mischief they made.  Choose something that will give your future you a smile.  When that day is over you move it to the back of the file and make another card for the next!  Once you make it through a rotation you will begin to look at what you were doing on that date the year before and add another year to the card.  We are on year 3 and my children love hearing what they were up to in the last 2!

Who's up for making a memory box today?  What other ways do you store special memories?
